Hi. Just found this site.
I have a 1980 Trans Am that I have had since new. Picked it up at Peter Burdens on the Danforth with only 3 Km

Drove it for the first 11years and when I had to put a car seat in the back in 91 I cried and put it away for the past 30 years. it ran real good for all these years, I would start it up every month or two and take it around the block. always started. went through a few batteries though

The car is stock. only added traction bars from the 80's. still like them. I am old school.

Nice car!!
You were right, more than ever, to hang on to it.
The site is not too busy lately...due to the Facebook effect, but there is a lot of info the tech sections.

I have been waiting on a motor refresh from the machine shop since February, due to a lack of staff. Everyone is sitting home collecting CERB.

site looks good. and yes car seat was out in 1991. :-)

Just needs some tender loving care once it gets up and running again

Hi All
just an update on the car. last year and a half had some work done on it. new wires, hoses, belts, rebuilt the carb, redone the front end, new 2 1/2" SS exhaust (Cats, Mufflers, tips), gas tank. just a bit of work. had issues with the ecm( but got it corrected) and lately had new cats go red (fuel mixture was too rich). did not drive it much this year but hope to in 2023.
Still need to get transmission looked at. leaking here and there.
For not doing anything with her for 40 years I think that's pretty good.
Hope all of you have a great Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Mike

Transmission leaks are not much of a problem.
It can be the speedometer cable port, the dipstick grommet (these turn to mush after so long), or simply the pan gasket. I eventually figured out to use loktite on the pan bolts, and the leaks stopped.
Sometimes a good quality cast aluminum pan like a TrickFlow can make a big difference.
