clarification on Distributor for a 301 pontiac versus 350 chev
« on: September 13, 2021, 08:16:03 PM »
Hi

I was wondering if someone out there would know if a chev 350 distributor would fit in a 301 Pontiac engine?

could I do a straight swap if my distributor is faulty

Thanks

Mike

As far as I know they won't fit. I believe poncho and chev dizzys rotate opposite ways, never mind differences in the housings themselves. I think your okay with 326 and 400 stuff though.

You could always rebuild the distributor yourself on a bench. They're not tough to do.

There would be a difference in the shaft length, the gear for the cam, the rotation (ie: weights won't advance)
But any Pontiac HEI would work, any are fairly easy to recondition.
