Rebuilding my 403
« on: June 07, 2016, 11:45:30 AM »
Likely at the end of the season i am taking my 403 to Top Dead Center engines and machine shop here in Kingston ON. I am going to use a rebuild kit with KB Pistons. Perhaps a new Cam of some sort. Any other opinions on what i will need or should do? I am not an encyclopedia of knowledge like some but i know there are some 403 quirks i should avoid like .30 boring because of over heating?

Thanks
Jon

A fresh Timing Chain is most likely required, main seal perhaps.

The best advice... is... speak to YOUR engine builder.

You are taking your motor to him because you trust him to do the build.
So ask him what is involved in the build and what HIS advice is and go with that.
He is ultimately responsible for doing it right... and has more than likely built several like yours already and will know what to do.

Do not suggest to him things you have heard from other "expert" engine builders or have read in magazines.
He'll know what your motor needs and what to recommend for your particular needs.

take care and good luck with the build.
